Project Summary
Economists for Future (E4F) is an advocacy group of young economists and academics working to integrate environmental concerns into economic thought. While their mission is vital, their website wasn't intuitive or engaging enough for their primary audience of students and academics. Content was difficult for their volunteer team to manage, and the site's reliability was a concern. Sketchboat stepped in to deliver a comprehensive website redesign focused on user experience and engagement. The new, accessible website features a simplified content management system, enhanced branding, and optimized calls-to-action to better serve E4F’s mission and community.

Concept
Our process began with a deep dive into E4F’s goals and the needs of their diverse audience, which spans from students to seasoned academics. We identified key friction points in the existing user experience and volunteer workflow. The website layout was confusing, important information was buried, and the backend was not user-friendly for content updates. Our core challenge was to create a design that was not only visually appealing but also highly functional and intuitive for both visitors and the E4F team.
To address these challenges, we focused on a user-centric design process, starting with wireframing and prototyping to establish an intuitive and accessible layout. We enhanced E4F's branding elements to create a more compelling and professional visual identity. The new design prominently features their latest activities and research, making it easier for users to stay informed and engaged. We also implemented clear calls-to-action throughout the site to encourage user interaction and participation in E4F's initiatives.
A key part of the project was to streamline the content management process for E4F's volunteers. We developed the site on a user-friendly CMS that simplifies updates and ensures the site remains current. To improve reliability and performance, we assisted in transitioning the website to a more robust third-party server. The result is a modern, engaging, and easy-to-manage website that empowers E4F to effectively communicate their message and grow their community.
